2023 09 25 Alessandro Orsini & Nick Roseboro lecture at Syracuse Architecture NYC
This lecture presents Architensions’ projects and research through the lens of “Architecture as commoning practice,” situating architecture as a network condition intertwined with the social, economic and political aspects of our lives. The lecture will introduce the notion of the commons and the collective from a transdisciplinary lens, examining how commoning practices shape not only the urban fabric but the spaces of the built environment. These spatial outcomes facilitate access to resources such as the right to housing, leisure, healthcare, education, food and contribute to cultural production. The work seeks contemporary issues of equity, climate, and labor to reconfigure and critique various forms of domesticity, housing, and public space to propose alternative modes of sharing and collective living.
